Split pea soup is a hearty meal in a bowl that will warm you up on a cold winter’s day. Make it in the morning after breakfast. Have the pleasure of knowing the work is done for supper. Enjoy the aroma all day long.
In a large Crock Pot combine:
1 package (1 pound) split peas, sorted and rinsed
2 cups diced ham
2 carrots, peeled and diced
1 onion, peeled and diced
2 small potatoes, peeled and diced
1 small smoked sausage, sliced
2 celery stalks, diced
8 cups of water
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Cover and cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours.
